Product Updates

Unity ELM
Unity Updates
  • Invoice line items can now be updated in bulk to change line item allocations from the bulk actions menu on the Invoice Details page. This restores allocation updates for multiple selected line items in a single action.
  • Unity ELM now supports vendor tax code mapping for Counsel Exchange integrations. Vendor-entered tax codes can be mapped to client tax codes, and Unity ELM provides tax code, tax description, jurisdiction description, and jurisdiction code data to support that mapping.
  • Starred bookmarks can now be used on additional record types to help users quickly return to important items. This functionality has been extended beyond reports and legal service requests to include invoices, matters, and vendors.
  • Timekeeper rate review now supports in-product rate adjustments by administrators. Adjusted rates can include an updated proposed rate, effective date, and reason, and also record the change in history and notify the vendor. Timekeeper rate records now also support record-level comments, activity tracking, and participants, enabling discussions and collaboration on individual rates.
  • Unity ELM now supports a Pro Forma invoice workflow for pre-finalization invoice review on invoices with VAT taxes. Clients can review and adjust invoice line items, return invoices to vendors for reconciliation, and track Pro Forma status with clear indicators on the invoice record. The workflow also supports capture of a Government Invoice ID, audit history for adjustments, and optional secondary approval after vendor finalization.
  • Unity ELM now supports invoice-level tax visibility, so clients can clearly see tax amounts submitted through Counsel Exchange. The update also adds support for invoice-level discounts and updates financial reporting calculations to reflect these values.
  • Timekeepers now show rate expiration details so users can see when an approved rate will change after a new rate is added. The Timekeepers table, exports, and profile views have also been expanded to include additional rate and location fields, as well as expiration date information.
  • Accruals now support quarterly and annual collection options in addition to monthly accruals. These new cadence options are available for vendor portal accrual collection through feature-flagged enablement.
  • Invoice Appeals has been added with configurable settings for enablement, appeal timing, appeal limits, and reviewer assignment. The feature supports matter-level activation, client-side adjustment and review workflows, vendor acknowledgment or appeal actions, and repeated appeal cycles up to the configured maximum.
Reporting Updates
  • Report scheduling (for Enhanced Reports) was added to Unity ELM so users can automatically send reports to stakeholders by email on a recurring schedule. Users can select one or more reports, define recipients, and choose delivery frequencies including weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, or custom schedules.
  • Unity ELM now includes new reports for Invoice Adjustments, Invoice Reviewer Velocity, and Invoices Pending Review. We also added enhancements to the reporting dataset to improve analysis of invoice workflow timing, pending approvals, adjustment activity, and related cost savings.

    • better invoice line-item visibility and grid customization
    • clearer validation and warning information
    • improved navigation from invoices to related matter details,
    • timekeeper management refinements

Unity LSR
  • Unity LSR now includes a new Claims request type for structured intake of claims and incident-related requests. It provides a sectioned intake form designed for claims workflows, supports both manual submission and AI-driven chat intake via the Request Agent, and integrates with the existing LSR intake, triage, routing, and dashboard framework.
  • Legal Service Requests can now be routed automatically based on request type, with optional subtype-based rules. Admins can configure assignments to the appropriate user or group, and standard notifications are triggered when a request is created.
  • The Request Agent experience has been streamlined to reduce unnecessary prompts and infer more information from user input. It now supports auto-generated key fields, simplified request details, prefilled forms, and a clearer review experience before submission.
  • Unity LSR now includes a role-based access control and permissions model for managing access to requests, data, and administrative functions. This provides more granular control over what different users can view and manage.
  • Admins can now enable or disable individual out-of-the-box request types in LSR settings through a new Request Type Configuration area. Disabled request types are removed from request creation experiences while remaining available for historical reporting and filtering.
  • Unity LSR now supports a shareable external intake link so users can submit legal service requests without entering the application directly. Requests submitted through the external intake experience create records in LSR and can follow standard routing and notification workflows.

The update includes scorecards with weighted categories, auction trend reporting, export options, and dashboards for award outcomes, savings, vendor performance, and overall RFP adoption.
  • Expanded Matter Management integration so users can link an RFP to an existing matter or create a new matter during RFP setup. Awarded rates, matter date ranges, phases, and spend details can now be sent to Matter Management.
  • Added support for saving engagement letters as reusable templates with fields for proposal-specific information. Engagement letter templates are now available during RFP drafting, and any engagement letter included in a saved RFP template is preserved with that template.

ContractWorks
  • The Metrics page in CWP has been redesigned. The update delivers a refreshed experience for viewing and working with metrics in the application.
  • You can now run AI auto-tagging in bulk for up to 500 contracts at a time within a single folder level in the ContractWorks repository. The process uses generative AI to analyze documents and extract key data elements, clauses, and other contract details, while including customer-facing messaging during processing.
  • The Olava model is now available in a customer-ready version within ContractWorks AiCE. This update brings the model into the product experience for customer use in AiCE.

  • Document-level chat has been introduced for single contract interaction using natural language questions. Users can ask about clauses, extract key details, receive summaries, and continue follow-up questions within the same conversation, while access controls protect document content.
  • Users can now ask direct questions about contract clauses in the chat interface and receive the relevant clause text from the document. Responses include a link or highlight to the clause location, and the system returns a clear message when the requested clause cannot be found.
  • Contract summaries can now be generated from the chat to highlight key terms and provisions. Users can also request more or less detail through follow-up prompts, with links provided to relevant document sections for deeper review.
  • Document chat now maintains conversational context across follow-up questions so users can continue asking about the same topic without repeating it. Users can also reset the conversation context by starting a new question.
  • The chat now handles unsupported or unclear questions with guided responses. It explains that the feature is limited to contract-related questions and suggests rephrasing requests or seeking help for supported query types.
  • Clause results returned by document chat now include navigation to the exact location in the contract. Users can jump directly to the highlighted clause in the document viewer to review it in full context.
  • Performance targets have been added for document chat responses to support faster contract review workflows. The experience now includes status messaging when processing takes longer than expected and is designed to remain responsive across different document sizes.
  • Users can now rate document chat responses with a helpful or not helpful reaction. Additional feedback can be submitted when a response is not helpful, and that feedback is captured for administrative review.
  • Chat responses can now be associated with ContractWorks tags for easier organization and retrieval. Users can apply existing tags or create new ones in the chat interface, with permission controls and audit logging supporting tag management.
  • Pre-defined prompts are now available in document chat to help users start conversations more quickly. Users can select saved prompts or create their own within the chat interface without interrupting the conversation flow.
  • The document viewer has been updated to a new user interface for the document chat experience. This provides a refreshed viewer foundation for interacting with contracts alongside chat.
  • Document chat now supports comparing a base contract with another contract from the repository. Users can view differences side by side, receive a summary of key changes, ask follow-up questions about the comparison, and export the results.
  • Support has been added for redesigned column handling and exporting data to Excel. This update improves how tabular information can be viewed and exported from the system for offline use.

Apptitude

  • Column-level encryption has been added for mail data and text or textarea fields to help protect confidential information stored in the database. Email subjects, bodies, and supported attachment content can remain decrypted in the UI for normal viewing, and encrypted mail data can be excluded from search indexing.
