Unity ELM Release Notes - August 2026

New Features
  • Unity now includes Pro Forma invoice functionality from ELM. This adds the ability to introduce a pro forma invoice workflow directly in Unity. Pro forma invoices are invoices with international taxes submitted by the vendor in a draft state so that the invoice can now be adjusted and the Pro Forma adjustments are reportable. This new workflow can help capture the savings information which is otherwise lost to rejection. (Note: Released July/August)

  • Unity ELM now supports invoice-level tax details passed from Counsel Exchange so clients can clearly see taxes applied to an invoice. Invoice-level discounts are also supported, and related financial dashboard and reporting calculations have been updated accordingly.
  • Ask Unity can now work with customer-specific custom attributes configured in a client environment. Users can ask questions about custom attribute fields and generate visualizations from that data, with role permissions enforced.
  • Introduced enhanced commenting functionality between Unity and Counsel Exchange, enabling back-and-forth communication between vendors and clients directly on invoices and Timekeeper (TK) rate requests.

Enhancements
  • The Invoice Attributes tab now displays the PO Description directly below the PO Number. When a PO is selected on an invoice, the related PO Description is populated and shown on the invoice.

  • A Legal Entity Code column has been added to the Allocations tables on both invoices and matter settings. This makes Legal Entity Code visible directly in the table for allocation records in both locations.
  • The invoice action item on the Dashboard now directs users to the My Invoices page. This gives reviewers access to invoice quick actions from the destination page.

  • The Reviewers view now opens in an expanded state by default when an invoice reviewer selects the Reviewers button. This makes reviewer details immediately visible without requiring an additional action.
  • Timekeeper rates now show the expiration date. When an existing approved rate is replaced by a new approved rate, the system displays the expiration date of that rate. Timekeeper tables and downloads now include additional rate and location fields, and the Timekeeper Profile Rates and History tabs now include an Expiration Date column.

  • Pie Chart Suite widgets now support configuration of the legend’s first row behavior through widget settings. This allows the special header-style treatment of the first legend row to be controlled or removed instead of being applied automatically.
  • Changes to global configuration are now recorded in the admin logs table. This adds visibility into updates to settings such as user preference providers and authentication providers, including who made the change.
  • Unity navigation now supports submenus within primary menu items based on configuration. Nested navigation items can be rendered and routed correctly, while existing single-level menus continue to work as before.

Reporting

  • The Unity ELM Financials Dashboard is rebuilt in Superset using a standardized data warehouse dataset and defined calculations for reporting metrics. The new dashboard supports global filters, customizable charts and filters, and export and sharing capabilities, with validation and phased migration from the legacy dashboard.
