Law Firm Management: Deletion and Disabling
As part of our self-service initiative, we have added the ability for your admin team to manage law firms and lawyers:
- To delete these accounts if they have never been registered in EB.S and no invoices have been uploaded.
- If you want to prevent these accounts from continuing to use EB.S.
Please note that these features are only available to administrators and to you as an EB.S Client, not to law firms.
Deletion of Law Firms and Lawyers
EB.S now offers the option to completely delete law firms and their lawyers, or individual lawyers, from the system. Please note that this is only possible if there is no data history in EB.S, i.e., these accounts do not have data records such as invoices or time entries in EB.S.
EB.S will automatically check for you if deletion is possible. If this is the case, then the delete button will be displayed as follows:

When you click this button, a prompt will appear to confirm.
Please note: If the law firm or the lawyer tries to log into EB.S, they will receive the following message on the login page:
"Please note that your account has been deactivated. You can no longer log in to EB.S. For information, please contact your administrator or your client."
Disabling law firms and lawyers
You now also have the option to disable a law firm and its lawyers or individual lawyers, and thus prevent them from accessing EB.S again. The disabling only prevents logging in, i.e., logging in to EB.S. Re-activation is possible at any time.
To disable a law firm, please proceed as follows:
1. Open Sourcing > Law Firms
2. In the "Options" column, you will see the following icons:

If you click "Disable," the law firm account will be disabled, and logging in will no longer be possible for all lawyers in this law firm. Then click on "Activate," and the disabling will be removed for the law firm and all its lawyers.
At the same time, these icons show the status of an account as follows:

The same feature is also available at the lawyer level to prevent individual lawyers log in to EB. S:
- Open Sourcing > Lawyers
- In the "Options" column, you will see the following icons:

If you click on this button, you will also receive a confirmation prompt to avoid accidentally disabling access.
Disabling Notifications in Matters
EB.S now offers you the option to turn off notifications for selected Matters. Once activated, no more emails will be sent about this Matter. Notifications that EB.S has set up for multiple Matters, e.g., within a workflow step, cannot be switched off.
Please note that if you re-activate, only future notifications will be sent again. Notifications during the shutdown are not saved and therefore not sent after activation!
This new setting can be found in the section under "Special Workflow Settings" as follows:
- In the settings of a matter
- When creating a new matter
Example: Settings tab in the Matter:

Hide Default Entries in Master Data
EB.S offers a wide range of standard categories and areas of law, as well as various departments. These are offered for selection when creating and in the settings of matters. Additionally, you can create individual entries in EB.S under Settings > Personalized Entries.
With this release, it is now possible to hide the standard entries Category/Jurisdiction and Responsible Department.
This requires activating a setting that your account manager can set for you. Please get in touch with your Customer Success Manager to activate this.
Please note that an extension to other fields is planned for future releases.
