Report Definitions and Suite Overview

Global Filters

Filters empower users to tailor the data on the dashboard based on business objectives.

  • View By toggle enables tracking Matter Spend by Fiscal Year or Calendar Year.
  • Tracking Spend by Fiscal Year requires Fiscal Year set up in Onit. Multi-select options for Year, Quarter, Month provide the ability to focus on specific time frames.
  • Clicking on "Show more filters" expands the scope of data selection.
  • "Spend Metric" toggle allows the user to set the date for tracking Spend. It can be set to any one of the Invoice Tracking Date, Approval Date, or Paid Date. Invoice Tracking Date can be configured in Billing Point as either Invoice Date, Billing Start Date, or Billing End Date (default).  
  • Utilize "Matter Search" coupled with filters to quickly retrieve targeted matters.

KPIs

KPIs provide a quick snapshot of crucial Matter Metrics at a high level.

  • Monthly trends enable the user to track patterns and make informed decisions.  
  • Monthly % Change is a static comparison of the current month against the prior month and is not impacted by the filters (for example, if we are on Nov 23, Monthly % Change for Spend KPI will compare the spend for Nov 23 vs Oct 23).
  • View Matters drill-down feature enables you to dive deep into specific matter details with a simple click-through.

Matters Opened vs. Matters Closed

Users can switch between Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly views within the same visualization to compare # of Matters Opened vs. the number of Matters Closed.

  • The comparison chart updates dynamically as users select multiple years, quarters, or months.  
  • The "View Matters" drill-down feature via tooltips can be leveraged to navigate to the filtered Matters Grid View.

Matter Aggregate Breakdown

Users can analyze the distribution of Matters across different Matter Phases by Spend and By Matter Count.

  • The "View Matters" drill-down feature lets one dive deep into matter details for a specific Matter Phase.

Group By 1 and Select Metric

Group By 1 enables users to group matters based on Matter Manager, Business Unit, Region, Area of Law, Vendor, and Matter Type.

  • These grouped matters can be analyzed using different Metrics, such as Spend, number of Matters Billed, number of Matters Created, Hours, and Blended Rate.
  • Group By 1 can be used to seamlessly navigate to the filtered Matters Grid View by leveraging the View Matters tooltip feature.
  • Clickable color legends based on Matter Phase provide an intuitive way to filter data.  
  • Selections made within this visualization will filter all other visualizations across the dashboard.

Group By 2 and Select Metric

Group By 2 and Select Metric enable another level of grouping the matters by Area of Law, Vendor, Matter, Matter Type, Matter Subtype 1, and Matter Subtype 2 and analyzing them by different Metrics.

  • Group By 2 can seamlessly navigate to the filtered Matters Grid View by leveraging the "View Matters" tooltip feature.
  • When Group By 2 is set to Matter, the tooltip can be utilized to Open Matter in Onit or navigate to View Matter Analytics to dive deep into the details of a single matter.  
  • Selections made within this visualization will filter all other visualizations across the dashboard.

{Group By 1} Metrics Grid

Users can navigate to the {Group By 1} Metrics Grid by clicking on the navigation button at the dashboard's bottom.

  • This grid offers a comprehensive view of all matters belonging to the selected Group By, along with detailed spend metrics  
  • Clicking on "Export Grid" provides a way to download Metrics for multiple Group Bys

Matter Status Report

Users can access the Matter Status Report by clicking the "Matter Status Report" navigation button at the bottom of the dashboard.

  • The Matter Status Report provides Status updates for all matters that belong to the Group By for a specific time frame.  
  • Users can Include/Exclude Status Updates for matters by setting the Start and End Dates.  
  • Utilize "Matter Search" to extract all Status Updates for a particular matter.  
  • Matter # hyperlink can Open Matter in Onit or navigate the View Matter Analytics dashboard.  
  • Clicking on Export Grid allows the users to download the Status Report.

Matters Grid View

This can be accessed by clicking on the "View All Matters" navigation button at the bottom of the dashboard or leveraging the View Matters dashboard tooltips.

  • Matters Grid View provides details and the breakdown of spend for each matter.
  • Grand Totals provide a quick snapshot of aggregated matter metrics.  
  • Matter # hyperlink can be used to Open Matter in Onit or navigate to the View Matter Analytics dashboard to analyze a single matter.  
  • Utilize Matter Search coupled with filters to quickly retrieve targeted matters. Clicking "Export Grid" lets users download the Matters Grid View.

Single Matter Analytics Dashboard

Filters and KPIs (Single Matter Analytics Dashboard)

Filters empower users to dive deep into matter details based on specific requirements and timeframes.

  • Multi-select options for Year, Quarter, Month provide the ability to focus on specific time frames for the matter in analysis  
  • KPIs provide a quick overview of the current state of the matter concerning Days Open, Phase, Spend, Hours and Blended Rate  
  • KPI tooltips can be leveraged to navigate to the Invoices Grid View by clicking on "View Invoices."

Spend Over Time (Single Matter Analytics Dashboard)

Users can switch between a Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly, and Rolling 12-Month view of the spend data within the same visualization for different time-series analyses.

  • The comparison chart updates dynamically as users select multiple years, quarters, or months.
  • The "View Invoices" drill-down feature via tooltips can be leveraged to navigate to the filtered Invoice Grid View.  
  • Selections made within this visualization will filter all other visualizations across the dashboard.

Spend Aggregate Breakdown (Single Matter Analytics Dashboard)

Users can analyze and comprehend the distribution of Spend for the matter in play across various LineItem Types.

Budget Tracking (Single Matter Analytics Dashboard)

The Budgeting visualization enables tracking the budget of a single matter based on Budget Types; the Budgeting visualization will be visible only if Budgets are configured through standard Onit ELM Budgeting.

Group By, Select Metric and Managed Tasks (Single Matter Analytics Dashboard)

Enables grouping single matter data by dimensions such as Timekeeper, Vendor, and Staff Classification.

  • These dimensions can be analyzed by different metrics like Billed Amount, Hours and Blended Rate.
  • View Invoices drill-down feature via tooltips can be leveraged to navigate to the filtered Invoice Grid View.  
  • Managed Tasks shows the breakdown of the selected metric by Task Codes and Descriptions.

Invoice Aggregation Buttons (Single Matter Analytics Dashboard)

The Invoice Aggregation Buttons offer a concise breakdown of spend associated with the matter based on Invoice Statuses.

  • Users can dive deeper into the filtered Invoice Grid View of specific Statuses by clicking on aggregation amounts.

Invoices Grid View

Users can access "Invoice Grid View" by clicking the View Invoices navigation button at the bottom of the dashboard or leveraging dashboard tooltips.

  • Invoice Grid offers a comprehensive display of all invoices contributing to the overall spend of the matter, along with a detailed breakdown.
  • Grand Totals allows the users to understand the complete financial picture.  
  • By clicking on an Invoice Number, users can navigate to an invoice in the Onit application and review it further.
  • Utilize "Invoice Search" coupled with filters to retrieve invoices quickly.
  • Clicking on "Export Grid" allows the users to download Invoice Grid and Grand Totals for further data analysis
