Building Approval Workflows
Updated onArticlePerhaps the most common use case for an Onit App is that of an approval process. Whether you’re building a basic approval workflow for expense reports or a super complex contract approval process, the core Onit building blocks that you’ll need (primarily Phases and Roles) all operate based on the same rules.
In this tutorial we’ll build a basic approval process from scratch. Once we’ve finished you’ll have a firm grasp on how to tackle approval processes of all shapes and sizes, from simple to complicated. Let’s get started!

Release Notes - July 2021
Updated onArticle- Anonymous launch previously could only be disabled at the corporation level: it was allowed or disallowed for all apps. Administrators can now control this at the app level. On the Settings page for an app, there's now a drop down menu to set Authentication Level. The options are:
- Restricted: this corresponds to the checkbox that was previously there for "Restrict Access", and has the same function.
- Authenticated: the default option for newly created apps, this gives the normal level of access to users who are logged in, but prevents anonymous portal launch.

Using Tags to Hide/Show Fields
Updated onArticleTags can be used to automatically hide/show Fields based on the values of other Fields. They work similarly to Hidden Conditions, but if you have a long and/or complex list of hide/show rules, you’ll find Tags easier to work with.
As an example, an app may have five Fields that should display if a requester selects Compliance from an area_of_law Field. If a requester selects Disputes from area_of_law, however, an app may need to display a set of three different Fields. Instead of applying redundant hidden conditions to each of these Fields, Tags can quickly be applied to each Field; any Fields with a Compliance Tag would only show when Compliance was selected, and vice-versa for Disputes.
